The Kentville Multicultural Festival will take place Sunday, August 24th 11am-4pm in Kentville’s Centre Square. The family-friendly event is a day full of food, art, music, dancing, storytelling, retail, and more, drawing nearly 2,000 people to the town. The event is free to attend, and is a celebration of our region’s diversity!
What you Need to Know
The Kentville Multicultural Festival requires the efforts, energy and dedication of a lot of volunteers. Whether you can help out for a couple of hours, or all day, we’d love to have you there!
Below are descriptions of the different volunteer positions available.
SET UP CREW
Before the public arrives, we need some able bodies to help set up the chairs, tables, and tents.
You are: Fairly strong and agile
How many? 8 people
Shift: 4 people on Sat, August 23rd 6pm-8pm & 6 people on Sun, August 24th 8am-10:30am
PARKING & VENDOR CREW
You are responsible for greeting vendors as they arrive, assisting in finding their vendor table, and ensuring that vendors know where to permanently park once they are set up. There are three entrance points – one for market vendors, one for food vendors, and one for performers.
You are: Friendly and you don’t mind helping to carry loads for vendors
How many? 8 people
Shifts: 9am-12pm (two at each vendor entrance and one at performance entrance) / 12pm-4pm (one at each entrance)
INFORMATION VOLUNTEER
You are at the festival tent or walking around the festival site wearing a festival t-shirt so attendees know that you are available to answer inquiries and distribute programs.
You are: Friendly and outgoing
How many? 4 people
Shifts: Two at 11am-1:30pm and two at 1:30pm-4pm
GREEN ROOM VOLUNTEERS
You are responsible for keeping the green room tidy, replenishing food and drink, watching over valuables, and assisting with performers.
You are: Friendly and reliable
How many? 2 people
Shifts: One at 10:30am-1:30pm and one at 1:30pm-4:30pm
TEAR DOWN CREW
After the party is over, we’ll need a hand in putting everything back the way it was. We need able bodies to help put away the folding tables, tents, and chairs, as well as pick up any garbage or lost and found items left behind.
You are: Fairly strong and agile
How many? 6 people
Shift: 4pm – 6pm
